Hot Dog Cook-Off Promises to Be a Relishing Good Time!
The Hot Dog Cook-Off, in Pensacola on May 3, will be a fun and funny, “dog”-friendly fundraiser for the Pitsacola Playground Animal Rescue, hosted by The Batty Sisters. The event will include:
• Hot Dog Cook-Off Competition
• Games and Prizes, Vendors
• Hot Dog Tastings
• Dog Adoptions
• Raffles
• Grilled hot dogs will be available for sale.
All proceeds will go to Pitsacola Playground Animal Rescue.
All are welcome to attend, taste and participate in this fun event. Dogs are welcome!
Where: Wisteria Tavern, 3808 N 12th Ave, Pensacola, FL 32503
When: May 3, 12pm-3pm CT
12pm - Event opens, raffle baskets, games and hot dogs available.
12:30 - 2:00 pm - Guests sample Hot Dog Cook-Off entries and vote for their favorite.
2:30pm Hot Dog Cook-Off Winners Announced
2:45pm Raffle Basket Winners Announced.
Cook-Off Details: Hot Dog Cooks/Cook Teams can create any type of hot dog entry they wish, from a perfectly grilled and topped hot dog to a casserole, appetizer, soup or anything else they dream up. Each entry must showcase the hot dog as the featured ingredient. Cooks/Cook Teams can prepare their entry at home or on site. Be ready to provide tastings at 12.30pm.
Timing for Cook-Off and Voting: Cooks/Cook Teams, should plan to set up any time after 11am to have their samples ready for tasting at 12.30pm. Tastings and voting takes place between 12.30-2pm. A bucket will be provided for monies collected. At 2pm, money is collected, counted and tabulated. Winners will be announced at 2.30pm. All monies collected will go to the Pitsacola Animal Rescue.
Judging and Winning: This is a People’s Choice Judging. Hot Dog Cooks/Cook Teams will prepare and provide bite-sized samples for the attendees of the event. Cooks will collect $1/tasting and $2 (or more) for a vote for the favorite. Attendees “vote” with their dollars. The Cook/Cook Team who collect the most dollars win. First, Second and Third place winners will receive a trophy and Winners Baskets full of goodies.
Hot Dog Cook-Off Competitors: Bring all ingredients (or the finished entry) and whatever cooking or heating device you need to create your entry (if cooking on site) and serve your samples. There will be electric outlets for crock pots and electric devices. Bring an extension cord if you have an electric device. There will be some tables available, on a first come, first serve basis. Feel free to bring a table, tent and anything you’d like to decorate your Cook space. Making your space fun will bring more people to you, increasing your chances of winning a trophy! Think outside the bun and be creative with your entry.
