Music with Grayson Capps, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Corky Hughes & Really Really Free Market
Grayson Capps and Corky Hughes are Bringing Sarah Lee Guthrie to the Garden.
Sarah Lee Guthrie will make her debut at From the Ground Up Community Garden. Sarah Lee Guthrie, the daughter of renowned folk artist Arlo Guthrie and the granddaughter of legendary Woody Guthrie, continues the family legacy as a gifted singer-songwriter. Her debut album, Sarah Lee Guthrie was released in 2002 through Rising Son Records, a label founded by her family. Growing up, Sarah was involved in both theater and dance, but it was during the 1997 Further Festival tour, where she worked as her father’s road manager, that her passion for music truly ignited. Inspired by the late-night jams she witnessed among the crew, Sarah picked up an acoustic guitar and began experimenting with melodies. “I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, so turning my poems into songs felt like a natural progression,” she shares.
Grayson Capps and Corky Hughes, frequent garden performers for 8 years, blend Southern rock, folk, and Americana. Their raw, gritty sound is infused with heart and depth, connecting deeply to American storytelling. They're joined by Chad Edwards, a talented photographer who is an integral part of their crew, helping capture the magic behind the scenes.
Local favorite Katie Dineen will open the show. A Pensacola-based singer-songwriter, her music blends folk, pop, and country, with lyrics inspired by her love of nature.
We’ll also host a Really, Really Free Market from 5:15–8 pm. Feel free to take what you like and bring items to share, but please take them home at 8 pm if they remain.
While this event is free, we kindly suggest a $10 donation to support the garden and encourage tipping the musicians. This event was a recent addition to our calendar, and we’re excited to share it with you! Your generosity helps us continue bringing these special events to life.
