Airport Updates
UPDATES & MORE FROM THE GATEWAY TO THE GULF COAST
We hope that 2024 is treating you well so far. It certainly has been busy for us here at Pensacola International Airport.
The holiday travel season was one of the busiest on record, closing out a year full of improvements, upgrades, and repairs at the Airport. So far, we've had an exciting few weeks of 2024 already.
In this edition of The Check-In, we take a look back at everything we accomplished in 2023, and look forward to 2024.
We also recognize some stellar work by our airport employees, and introduce you to another member of our PUP Patrol.
Fly Easy!
From escalators and elevators to TSA screening machines and parking challenges, we had a lot going on at PNS last year. But wait, there's more!
We have some exciting things in store for this year as well. Click the button below to read our latest update.
PNS Employees Recognized by TSA
Earlier this month, our baggage handling system had an electrical problem and stopped working. This system manages your luggage after you check it at the airline ticket counter. As you can imagine, that could have been a major problem, had our PNS Operations and Maintenance employees not stepped in to help.
In fact, our PNS staff did such a good job that even the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recognized them for their hard work and assistance in keeping things running smoothly. We are grateful for this team of hard-working men and women who made sure everyone could Fly Easy that day, even when it wasn't an easy day for them!
Pensacola PUP Patrol: Meet "Charlotte A."
Introducing Charlotte A., one of two Charlottes on our Pensacola Pets Unstressing Passengers (PUP) Patrol.
This lovely lady is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and is named after the daughter of England's Prince William.
You may see Charlotte with her human at PNS, nuzzling passengers and cuddling children. She loves doing tricks, traveling to new places, sitting in laps and, of course, getting treats! Come by and say hello next time you see her!
Pensacon is Coming Soon!
Stay tuned, as we will soon be welcoming travelers from across the universe and the metaverse.
That's right–Pensacon is back, and we're looking forward to hosting visitors from this world and beyond here at PNS. Check out the fantastic lineup of sci-fi and pop culture performers, directors, and cosplayers at the Pensacon website.
Plan Ahead to Fly Easy
We know that getting you into and out of the airport as quickly as possible is important to helping you Fly Easy. You can help us make that happen.
Plan to Arrive Early.
TSA is recommending that you arrive two (2) hours early for your flight. Between parking, checking in, security screening, and getting to your gate, we want you to have plenty of time to Fly Easy.
As always, please check with your airline for the latest flight updates or information, and review the list of TSA-approved items for your carry-on luggage.
No Parking and Waiting In Front of the Terminal.
If you are picking up a passenger, please do not park in front of the terminal and wait for them. That creates traffic problems in front of the airport and makes it harder for other passengers to enter or exit the airport, too.
We recommend that if your passenger is not on the sidewalk waiting for you, circle the airport or park in one of the Economy lots for up to an hour at no charge, until your passenger is ready.
We know you have choices when you fly, and we do our best to make your experience with us a positive one. So we thank you for choosing to Fly Easy with PNS.
