Pensacola, Florida – To celebrate Pensacola’s 462nd birthday, members of the community are invited to explore the newly unveiled America’s First Settlement Trail (A1S Trail). On Sunday, Aug. 14, join the A1S Foundation, Visit Pensacola and the UWF Historic Trust at Plaza Ferdinand VII for the America’s 1st Settlement Trail Ribbon Cutting and Family Fun Day.
Following the ribbon cutting and plaque unveiling at 2 p.m., guests are invited to walk the trail. A passport card with four stamp locations has been developed and will be available for pickup at 2:30 p.m. Once completed, the passport can be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of ten $100 gift cards. Completed passport cards are to be dropped off at Plaza Ferdinand by 6 p.m., when the drawing will take place. Entrants do not have to be present to win. Additionally, from 12-4 p.m. the Pensacola History Museum will offer free admission.
The A1S Trail is a three-mile self-guided historic walking trail marked through Downtown Pensacola and the Pensacola Historic District by a red line on the ground. Along the trail are twenty stops and over seventy points of interest marked by medallions and QR codes that will take you to online information about the points of interest around that location.
