Visit Pensacola COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update #1
Dear Tourism Stakeholder:
Visit Pensacola, as Escambia County’s destination marketing organization, is continually monitoring the COVID-19 situation and is in close communication and coordination with Escambia County, City of Pensacola, Visit Florida and state officials.
As Tom Lowery, Editor-in-Chief stated in today’s Skift newsletter, “The travel industry has never faced times like these. Ever! That is why we are more committed to our mission to provide you with trusted information, analysis, and research.”
With no confirmed cases of COVID-19, we want to remind everyone that Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key, Pensacola, and Escambia County are wide-open and ready for business. As a predominately drive market, we want to leverage that in our messaging.
Showcase Pensacola, Visit Pensacola’s marketing agency, has begun shifting marketing and advertising dollars to target travel-intenders in our standard drive markets and emphasize the areas wide-open beaches and spaces, including outdoor activities and things to do. The marketing tactics will include standard digital, paid social media, native and email. This strategy is to ensure efforts are adapted and aligned to best position Visit Pensacola as a premier travel destination, now and in the future.
The visitor centers within Escambia County remain open and continue to be provided with the latest COVID-19 information and resources to help keep the traveling public informed. We ask that all stakeholders and partners, please report cancellations of activities, events, and accommodations so we can better track and report the impact on our area.
Lastly, Escambia County has established a Joint Information Center to streamline the distribution of public information regarding COVID-19. The Emergency Operations Center is not currently activated. Visit Pensacola is participating in this initiative and will continue to send the most up to date information we receive within our community as well as within the tourism industry.
