Tourism Works for Pensacola is a public service campaign designed to educate citizens about the economic impact and overall value of tourism to the local economy.
EDUCATION
From the yellow bus that takes my children to and from school every day, to the textbooks they use to study math, science and reading, tourism enhances the quality of my children’s public education. Tax revenue and visitor spending also help fund teachers’ salaries, classroom equipment, auditorium expansions and other services that help Escambia County students learn. Pensacola tourism works for our children’s education.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Every day, I drive to work on safe roads and highways that are maintained thanks to revenue generated by tourism. When I fly out of Pensacola International Airport for a much-needed vacation, I can choose from multiple convenient, direct flights because of the demand created by our visitors. Pensacola tourism works for our infrastructure.
BEACHES
There’s nothing like the soft, sugar-white sand and sparkling emerald waters that comprise the beaches in Escambia County. From the busting boardwalk at Pensacola Beach and the Southern sanctuary of Perdido Key, to the award-winning Gulf Islands National Seashore, I’m thankful for my year-round access to our meticulously-maintained beaches. I’m also thankful for the tourists who provide the tax revenue needed to keep our beaches beautiful. Pensacola tourism works for our beaches.
JOBS
We don’t all work in tourism, but tourism works for all of us. The 22,000+ people who work in the hospitality industry use their wages to purchase goods and services from members of our community. Those seeking work find plenty of opportunities thanks to our healthy tourism industry, whether as an accountant at a hotel, a marketing specialist for a restaurant or an engineer at the airport. Pensacola tourism puts our friends, family and neighbors to work.
